Hi all,

To start I have to say that I've read through a number of Attribute guides although most of these are from 2005. I've also read through the two posts in this forum -

Attributes - What to do with them?

and

Attributes - Allocation Guide

After reading these it seems to suggest that for the character that I want to make a Kung Fu Master I should concentrate on Perception and Belief with a bit of Vitality for extra health. Where Perception increases my Melee CT and Dmg and Belief increases resistances and dodging.

The thing is that the Attribute description would suggest Belief and Focus. Belief for Accuracy(CT?) and Resistance; Focus for Dmg and Defense (dodging?).

My question would be, which one is correct?

I'm only low level at the moment but I've mainly been concentrating on Belief and Focus and my Perception is still at 9. I've noticed that auto attacks hit around 80% of the time but all of my melee abilities, regardless of which style I'm in, only hit or work around 30% of the time. This is making the game exceedingly frustrating as I can go through a whole bar of Inner Strength and not do a single point of damage from abilities.

As a reference :

Lvl 13

B -14
P - 9
R - 8
F - 12
V - 10

I've taken all required abilities down the Soldier path with Multi-Attack, Martial Arts Expertise, Guard Breaker, Iron Guard and Kung Fu.

I use the Kung Fu stance when in Interlock and will always attempt to initiate Interlock. I mostly use the Grab style with the Power one against green mobs and the Speed one when auto attacks start missing a lot or animations start pushing me too far backwards. I find that Speed style makes the animations move me forward.

Any help appreciated.

Cheers,

Dammers.

All right, first thing, both those two threads are pre Combat Revision 2.0 (CR 2.0)  After the revision, the attributes, both in what they do and what they effected got a little tweaked.  Check out the Attributes section of the Beginners Guide for the updated information.

To answer your question though, as an MA, you should be focusing your points in Belief and Focus.  For most combat abilities, MA included, it's always good to favor the accuracy a bit for the points.  While you do need both, the damage of your attack wont matter if you're not hitting them. Your attributes look fine to me, for what you are. However there are a few things that you might be able to do to increase your hit rate.

One thing though, you don't need to load multi-fighting.  That was one ability that they turfed back in the combat revision.  They kept the icon in for some reason but to my knowledge, it still doesn't do anything.

It sounds like you might want to change up your combat tactics a bit.  Each different tactic, grab, power, speed.. all have a different effect of what they do.  For example, Power has a 20% bonus to damage, but a -10% downgrade to your accuracy.  Whereas Speed has a 15% Accuracy bonus.  You might want to check out the 'Tactics' section of the Combat Guide for a complete list of the down and upgrades for each tactic.    The Combat tactics also effect your special abilities, as in what tactic you're using when you launch an attack.  Both in how much damage you'll do and your accuracy.

Hope this helped.  If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to ask. Wink

Damn you Rei and your helpful advice, leaving me with nothing to add *shake fist*

Some trivia though, according to MxO Q/A Dev, 9mmfu, the ability Sharpshooter while having a description of "TBC" in-game does in fact still remove "the penalty for shooting into interlock".

Cheesy

Oh hey, I didn't know that about sharpshooter.  I've never used it myself.  I'll have to try it out now and see what kind of a difference it makes.  Learn something new everyday!
 Cool

Edit:  Wait.. is that shooting 'into' Interlock, as in shooting on someone whose ingaged in interlock.. or shooting 'while in' Interlock yourself?

Exactly what we asked him when he first said on DN1, lol. Personally I take it as in shooting someone whos already in interlock, but we never got too straight of an answer =P

OK, thanks guys. It seems that what I'm doing is the right way to go.

I mainly use the Grab stance because -

a) It gives a 100% bonus to Force Combat,
b) +30% to defense and +5% to accuracy but -15% to dmg,
c) It makes the enemy off-balance which is needed for Guard Breaker to be used.

Cheers,

Dammers.

Keep in mind as well, it's a good idea to keep changing up what tactic you're using so to keep your target on their toes and give them less of a chance to get used to and block your attacks.  I usually switch it up to a different tactic after every 2 attacks or so.. whether auto attacks or an actual ability attacks.  Also, I usually always switch to Speed right before I launch any of my 'special' abilities, (the ones that require the target to be in a specific state)  for the accuracy bonus as there's a better chance it will go through and not fail.
