Personality Profile

The Matrix Online gives you ten different statistic configurations to choose from, each one has its own description which is generally used for roleplaying purposes.

From the descriptions given here you should be able to determine what Personality best suits your character concept. Your default Attribute points when starting out is 8. Each Personality profile has one attribute that is higher then the norm (11) , and one the at is lower (5), with the default being (8) You can raise your attributes as you level up your RSI.

	Inquisitive Genius	You worked out the math, studied the formulas. Something just didn't add up. The universe was missing something. And now it's missing you.	High: Reason +3 Low: Belief -3

This is one of two aspects of your RSI that you can not change in the game, so plan ahead.

Appearance

Once you've chosen a Personality Profile you can now customize the appearance of your Residual Self Image. You will advance from the Personality Profile screen to the one below, this is the RSI Creation panel. It is comprised of 4 different sections the Candidate Pool, Physical Traits, Clothing, and the Display window.

The Candidate Pool is a selection of four default character portraits. If you are don't like the four selections you are presented with you can click on the Search key to find new candidates. New results will be displayed upon the search finishing. You can then customize your Physical Traits.

You can also refine your search by editing the Physical Traits of your RSI. There are 9 physical traits you can edit: Gender, Body Type, Hair Style, Hair Color, Head, Skin Tone, Tattoos, Facial Details, and Facial Detail Colors. Gender is the only physical trait you can not change later on.

Now to get some Clothing.

Clothing

Now that you've chosen your RSI, you can select the clothing they will start out with. Clothing is more then just for your individual style. Clothing can provide benefits to: Coder, Operative & Hacker Abilities, defense, offense, and more. When you start out you have few options for clothing. You can wear: Hats, Eyewear, Outwear, Shirts & Dresses, Gloves, Pants & Skirts, and Footwear. You will be able to find new clothing once you get into the Matrix. You can find clothing on the Marketplace, Farming, or by asking other players, Pimp My RSI. anyone? Here's a tip when farming, make sure to attack NPCs that are a bit higher level then you, this will increase your chances at getting an enhanced item.

Clothing Items with a blue background, can only be worn by males.

Clothing Items with a yellow background, can only be worn by females.
 
Clothing Items with multiple items, IE. Rocawear, or male the Gi, must be worn as an outfit and cannot be interchangeable.
 
Clothing Items with a grayed out background, indicate that they are not usable by you. Possible causes could be you are the wrong gender or of insufficient level to wear it.
 
Clothing Items with a red border are enhanced and provide some beneficial effect when worn.

After you have selected your Physical Traits and found that outfit to wear. The final part of the RSI. creation is the General Search Criteria.

General Search Criteria

This is where you enter general information about your new RSI such as name and background.

This is where you define your Redpill's background a bit.

1. This is the name you will be known among your crewmates and in the Matrix, like "Niobe" or "Agent Pace". It should be something that is meaningful to you, you'll need to be creative.
   
    
2. This was the your first name when you lived under the control of the Matrix, before awaking Neo's "real" first name was Thomas.
   
   
    
3. This was the your last name when you lived under the control of the Matrix, before awaking Neo's "real" last name was Anderson.
   
    
4. Description:
   

Your Bluepill name is how the Machine NPCs will identify you, which is mostly for roleplaying purposes. If you don't know what to enter for a Description you can always edit your background, Now that you have your Redpill name... where is that training program...

Don't worry if you don't want to do the in game tutorial and you want to jump right in the game then:

 
The button is located above your chat window in the bottom left hand corner of you HUD.

However! I personally advise going through the tutorial once. You'll learn basic controls in the Matrix. You will also be given the chance to fight Bob.

RSI Modification Pills

RSI Modification Pills

One of the Matrix Online's great features is the control you have over your character. The game saw a new addition in the spring of 2007 with the release of the RSI Modification Pills. They were added in game on March 8, 2007 in Update 50 They allows you to permanently alter a physical trait of your RSI.

Where to find the Pills

Exile Hideout NPCs (except for the NPCs in the boss area of the bottom floor) and the bosses themselves now have a chance of dropping the pills. These pills can also be traded or sold. Different pill types can be found in different hideouts.
