Abilities

In MxO your Abilities are contained in a tree, which breaks down into 5 main Disciplines; Awakened, Dataminer, Coder, Hacker, and Operative. One of the great advantages to MxO is the control you have over your character. You will always have the option of learning multiple abilities, what will hinder you from loading them all is your memory slot limit. In the Matrix what you can do depends on what abilities you have. Below is a table the explains the color coding or the Abilities.

Yellow Abilities This color represents Upgrades.

Blue Abilities This color represents Non-Combat.

Green Abilities This color represents Heals.

Red Abilities This color represents Attacks.

Purple Abilities This color represents Downgrades.

Orange Abilities This color represents Tertiary

Awakened Discipline

Awakened:
This discipline is the most important of the entire Ability Tree. All Redpills in the Matrix must have the Awakened ability loaded into their memory in order to load any other abilities. The majority of this tree is for you general skills and contains quite a few "must have loaded" abilities in order to be successful.

Defensive Skills:

Hyper-Sense Increases Thrown Defense	Hyper-Deflect Increases Viral Defense	Hyper-Block Increases Melee Defense	Hyper-Dodge Increases Ballistic Defense
Calm Mind, Calm Body Increases Thrown Resistance	Empty Mind Increases Viral Resistance	Consistant Technique Increases Melee Resistance	Adrenaline Booster Increases Ballistic Resistance
Evade Shield designed to increase you chance of avoiding interlock.	Detection Increases your chance at detecting stealthed opponents.

Offensive Skills:

Cheap Shot An ability to do a small amount of Melee damage.

Head Butt This ability can reduce your opponents Melee accuracy.

Nutural Skills:

Hyper-Sprint I ncreases movement speed	Hyper-Jump Grants Hyper Jump	Hyper-Speed Increases movement speed	Concentration Reduces the chance of being interrupted while performing an ability.
Determination Decreases the length of negative effects.	Initiative Increases your initiative. This skill has a great effect when you health is low.

Special Skills:

Beta Hyper-Jump Must have started in beta to get this ability

Mobius Code Must have started shortly after the assassination of Morpheus to get this ability.

Dataminer Discipline

Data Miner:
$i deposits, collect in numerous places throughout the Matrix. With the proper skills and corresponding tools, ie, Data Node Locator Handhelds and Goggles, and Data Tap Tools, you can collect small amounts of $i from the nodes. Data nodes can be tapped a number of times before the $i runs dry and you will need to find another. You will also receive a small amount of experience doing this. Amount of $i and XP, varies according to District and area of the city.

In addition to tapping data deposits, another benefit to the Data Mining tree is the ability to find Luggables. Luggables are special items that you can find in each district. These items not only cause a special visual effect, but grant certain bonuses to your defense and offense. But beware, when you find a luggable and pick it up, you will be automatically flagged. Luggables are specific to each district so you will have to remain in the district for the luggables buffs to effect you. Teleporting, using the Hardlines, Subways or Jacking out, will all cause the Luggable to be dropped. However, the flag and the visual effects will remain until you either: trade the luggable to another player, are killed in PVP combat and the player picks up the luggable, or drop the luggable and it is picked up by another player.

The easiest way to find a luggable is to ensure the corresponding ability is loaded, and use a Handheld Data Node Locator tool, which will make a waypoint appear on your screen that points to the nearest luggable in the area. If a Luggable is dropped into an active mission area the luggable will be destroyed. If it is destroyed you have to hunt around to find it again. You may only have one luggable of each type in your inventory at a time. While a luggable is in your possession you will always be flagged for PVP action, so be ready.

So, you're probably wondering why people should pick up an item that flags them? The answer is simple. The item gives a lot of buffs players should find...useful. Luggables has been in development for a long time now, and they've let us try out the luggable system a couple of times now. They have been featured in event-patches, like in the Christmas event for example. The snowmen there was a form of luggables. It seems that they're being thrown out into the game in a lot bigger way now though, considering they have several kinds of luggables instead of just one with the same buffs.

Coder Discipline

Coder:
This Discipline is more then just a crafter in the Matrix because you can also make Simulacra. A Code Crafter can create the following; Clothing, Weapons, Abilities, Tools, and Consumables. If you are starting out in game by yourself it is a good idea to use Code Shaper for the first couple of levels. because you can make a Sim. to aid you. You might be able to solo missions on the hard difficulty, if you take your time with a Sim. While this discipline does contain offensive abilities, it is a supporter class when it comes to PVP. The Coder tree breaks down into 3 main trees.

1. Programmer:
   Within this tree you can learn how to Compile, Decompile, Write Code, and there are a a few more Abilities you can learn. To find out more visit the Coders Guide.
    
2. Proxy Master:
   Proxy Master allows you to make Proxies, which utilize the Martial Arts or Gunmen Abilities. This tree also contains Viral attacks and buffs for Sims.
    
3. Utility Master:
   Utility Master allows you to make Daemons, which utilize the Virologist or Patcher Abilities. This tree also contains Viral attacks and buffs for Sims.

Hacker Discipline

Hacker:
This would be considered the Lore Master / Mage / Wizard class of MxO. You can find a lot of attacks in this discipline, but when it comes to Interlock they probably won't be much help to. Hackers have a natural weakness in Interlock. The Discipline branches into 2 main roots, Patcher and Virologist which also branch out into subcategories.

1. Patcher:
   This Ability Tree deals with the healing and buffs of players. You can also teleport team & team members, Hardline run anyone? There are for subcategories for Patcher:
    
   1. Force Multiplier - Abilities for upgrading your team. You can also find the teleporting abilities in this tree
       
   2. Trauma Surgeon - Abilities for healing multiple team members at a time.
       
   3. Physician - Abilities for healing a single target at a time.
       
   4. Upgrade Master - Abilities for upgrading a single target at a time.
       
   
    
2. Virologist:
   This Ability Tree deals with disastrous attacks and debuffs to your opponents. There are a few Abilities that have a penalty when they are used in Interlock within the Hacker Tree; there are quite a few useful debuffs in this Disciple as well.
    
   1. Network Hacker - Abilities for downgrading enemies.
       
   2. Ravager - Abilities for downgrading VR and offensive attacks.
       
   3. Ballistic - Offensive Abilities that do a lot of damage.
       
   4. Howitzer - Abilities for attacking or downgrading a group of enemies
       
   5. Destoryer - Abilities for downgrading or attacking a group of enemies
      

Operative Discipline

Operative:
There are three main roots of the Operative Tree, each root branches out into subcategories, which are explained below.

1. Spy:
   This Discipline is considered the Rogue or Assassin class in MxO. With this Discipline you can sneak aka Stealth around, avoid Interlock, pick locks, Punt, and so much more. Spies can learn to throw knives and deal large amounts of damage if successful in attacking. The Spy root branches into 3 subcategories.
    
   1. Master Shadow - Abilities for moving about with out being seen, also contains the Lock Pick ability.
       
   2. Master Knife Thrower - Abilities for knife throwing as well as sneak attacks.
       
   3. Master Assassin - Abilities for sneak attacks as well as knife throws.
       
       
2. Martial Arts:
   This Discipline is the “tank” class of MxO, the infamous MA, you can specialize in three Martial Arts:
    
   1. Kung Fu - Focuses primarily on Accuracy
      
      
   2. Karate - Focuses primarily on Damage
      
      
   3. Aikido - Focuses primarily on Defense, Lower Accuracy
       
   
    
3. Gunman:
   This Discipline is the Ranged class in MxO Unlike MA there are four different styles to learn with Gunman:
    
   1. Dual Submachine Guns - Focuses primarily on Damage
      
      
   2. Rifles - Focuses primarily on Accuracy & Damage
      
      
   3. Sniper - Focuses primarily on Damage & Accuracy
      
      
   4. Dual Handguns - Focuses primarily on Mid-Damage

What Should I Choose, Can I Make A Hybrid?

Will first you should start by looking at your Attributes & Ability Guide. Keep in mind when building your RSI you will need defenses as well, remember the best offense is a good defense. There is a slight problem with hybrid characters, it is rather difficult to max out your accuracy attribute. If you want to build a hybrid character for PVP, keep in mind some PVP players tend to max out there attribute that effects there accuracy, so you've been warned, Red = Dead.

Here are some good hybrids that can work; Spy / Gunmen, Martial Arts / Hacker, Patcher / Spy, Coder / Martial Arts, or you can even try Skript Kiddie with a bit of Knife Thrower. If you ever want to change you Attributes, all you need is a Stat Hack

Leveling Abilities

 There are two different ways to get to your Upgrade panel to level your Abilities

1. Keyboard:
   *note*This is for default keyboard mapping.*note*
   
   1. Click the P key on your keyboard to access the Status Panel
       
   2. Then use your mouse to click on (Upgrade Button) to access the Upgrade panel.
       
   3. Next click on the (Abilities Tab)
       
   4. Click on to increase or to decrease the values.
   5. Once you are satisfied with your selection click on . (Accept Button)
       
   
    
2. Mouse:
   
   1. Click the (Character Icon) Icon on your (Compass)
      to access the Status panel.
       
   2. Then use your mouse to click on (Upgrade Button) to access the Upgrade panel.
       
   3. Next click on the (Abilities Tab)
       
   4. Click on to increase or to decrease the values.
       
   5. Once you are satisfied with your selection click on . (Accept Button)
