(timeline- one week after the events of War Journal)

I saw them standing there at the end of the hallway, waiting for me to make the next move. I wanted to fight, to run, anything other than stand still but somehow I felt trapped. I looked up againand I saw that the Agent closest to me was moving even closer, and as he was moving forward, I noticed him typing somehting on a data pad.

Ah... Mr. Veloce. It seems we've finally caught up with you

I looked up, and as the recognition came to mind, I realized that Agent Brown had finally caught up to me. All of the sudden I fellt the coded equivalent of having the wind knocked out of me, and it was as if I no longer had any control over thefree movement of my RSI. Whoever wrote this stun code, knew me well, and the harder I tried to fight against it the more it tightened around me, making it hard for me to catch a breath. I heard two more sets of footsteps coming from behind me and as I tried to look back over my shoulder, I was brought up short by hands on either side of me pressing down on me and the sudden flash of cold steel as I heard holsters being unsnapped. Agent Brown and I locked eyes with each other for the space of a few short breths, and i looked away quickly as a sinking feeling hit the pit of my stomach as the realization of what this was all about came clear.

We know he's here somewhere, and we also know that you were the last person to be seen with him, Mr. Veloce, so why not tell us the truth, and let us know where the Exile known as NightSinger is?

'If only they knew the truth,' I thought to myself, 'if they look deep under the layers of my RSI, they'll find what they are looking for.' I let an inward smile cross over my face as I felt a sudden burst of energy ripple across my RSI. I had no idea where it was coming from, but as I felt the intensity of the energy increase, I was also feeling an unusual sense of calm begin to settle over me. I looked around again, and then another thought had crossed my mind, 'if you know the code use it...' To my way of thinking, I was stuck between a rock and a hard place. I knew that if it came down to it, I'd have a one in a million chance for what I was planning to work. I slowly moved my left hand into the left pocket of my jacket where I kept my data pad full of my attack codes, and I keyed in the download sequence. As the files downloaded to my code launcher I saw strange images flash across my heads-up display. It looked like someone had been busy making modifications to my area disruption and code freeze programs. All of the sudden NightSinger's face flashed across my line of sight, and a single line of text hovered just below it. 'Yeah,' I heard him whisper softly, 'I made the changes. I figured it was about time that I started making myself useful. I've also increased the duration and effective capibility of your burst defenses as well, which will explain the sudden burst of energy you have been feeling. You wanted a chance, here it is... Make use of it.'

Oh no....no get outta jail card here, you got into the mess, you get out of it! Smiley

Nice going.
One little thing, personally I would use more paragraphs and spaceing.
I always struggle to read these kind of posts/stories with anything like dramatic delivery...all the words just seem to rush out in a tumble and lose impact, even if I do get the jist.

Just my ho Wink

(just as an aside, I write on the fly, and the idea of paragraphs and such has no place in how I think... I consider each post I make as a paragraph of my stories.)

I looked to the agent on either side of me, and I smiled again. As the programs finished downloading to my code launcher I activated the rest of my burst defenses and shook myself loose from their grasp and activated a code freeze attack. The two agents to either side of me were frozen in place, and Agent Brown was staggering slightly as he managed to deflect the worst of the attack.  I kicked into my hyper speed and looked for a door to run to, or a window to bust my way out of, but all I saw was a dead end hallway behind me and the doorrway to the elevator behind Agent Brown. 'There has to be another way,' I thought to myself, 'I can't go through him, and I'm not even sure if I'm fast enough to go around him...' I looked through my heads up display again , scanning the list of programs that I had just downloaded. Most of what I had in my current attack set took time to activate, and I wasn't sure I had the time to run any of it. I activated a UI lag subroutine and it hit Agent Brown dead on. As the code took effect, it slowed him down just enough for me to make the mad dash to the elevator. Unfortunately I wasn't quick enough. Just as I had managed to set foot inside the elevator, I felt a sharp burning heat sting the top of my right shoulder. Agent Brown had time enough to raise his gun and fire a single shot at me before I made good on my escape. I looked to my left and saw the button panel for the floors of the elevator. I nervously kept jabbing at the button that would take me to the lobby of the building, and winced as each further bullet made dents in the door of the elevator as I waited for it to start moving and get me out of this place. As the elevator started to move downward slowly I breathed a small sigh of relief, and looked down at my shoulder. I could feel the pain slowly trying to creep in and take over, but I knew that pain was not a luxury I could not afford much of until I was sure that I had totally left the agents behind.

As I came out of the building, the pain in my shoulder was threatening to knock me unconscious. I pulled up my program listing again, on my heads up display and looked for my basic patch kit and activated it. As  the cool energy slid into my shoulder and dampened the pain slightly, I was aware of the sound of running footsteps approaching my location.  i looked to either side of me and saw nothing but the faint flicker of shadows. I had no plans to stick around and find out what was coming for me, but as I attempted to hyper jump out of the area I felt a hand grasp my ankle and pull me down as I was starting to launch into the air.  'Wait... wait,' I heard a voice say to me in a tone that was as much growl as it was human, 'not here to hurt... Here to help...' I looked over my shoulder to where I thought I heard the voice coming from and what I saw frightened me a bit. A strange looking being half lupine and half human...
