Well you've jacked in and seen the 4 ability trees you can access.  All seem pretty straight forward ... but you're not sure of Coder.

The Coder or Coder tree can be a very rewarding persuit and as the game progresses and your need for item, tool and abilities grow it will be come essential.

As a new Red-Pill you already have the ability in your store to start writing code.  This is the writing code ability, as you level this ability you'll gain access to more codes to write and your ability to write those successfully more often.

The base 'currency' for all your coding is bits and they are numbered 1-8.  With it seemingly bit8 the rarest.

Now the first steps to being a successful Coder is a steady source of Bits.  These can be found in missions and lootable from defeated gangs.  But there is an easier way and more steady source of bits.  Firstly you'll need purchase the Coder and Decomplile Items abilities from any of the Coder Vendors in Richland (easiest is around Mara).  Then the item Decompile Item tool from a Item Vendor.

Once you have these items and ability loaded to memory you are set to go.

When you decompile an object successfully, it's 'forumla' is stored in your code analyzer.  When you decompile that same object again it is not stored as a formula but converted into BITS the life blood of a coder.  This is where the 'trick' comes into play, you need to find a cheap object to purchase and then able to get an effective limitless supply of BITS.  There used to be a large number of these objects you can use to this effect, but those days are gone.  There is only one I know of still to excist and it is the RedPill Revolver and can be purhased from a weapon vender for 10$info.  Now when you can get on average 2-4 BITS per decompile this is a cheap source BITS.

That said you'll only get 1-7 BITS using this method and of those 6 seems the rarest.  So use this method to get the basic building blocks relatively cheap and in ample supply.

You'll find that function frags use BIT8's which are required to do most middle to higer level objects.  These special FRAGS can be purchased from FRAG vendor in Apollyon.

Coding items and FRAGS can be very rewarding XP wise as you get 325-1125XP per FRAG or ITEM on average.  This coupled with the supply and demage aspect of producting OBJECTs like abilities for people and $info.

In addition to what is stated above, another method to get frag codes, is by compiling and then decompiling your objects.  So your a level 10 Coder, all  your abilities are maxed out.  Decompile a Health pill, version 1.0, then write the code for that pill.  Now you can compile the health pill code 15 times, and decompile those 15 red pills for for code bits.  I believe I was paying like 10 IS to compile my code. Very effect way to get code bits, in addition to the aforementioned ways.

Yes that is an option but in the long run not as cost($info) effective as the decompile of the Redpill special @ only $10info it's alot cheaper to gain 1-7 bits than compiling the 4 FRAG's needed to compile the health pill1.0 and then the cost of $info for each compile of those 15 pills to then decompile and gain BITS

But if you're in a bind it's an option Smiley

Maybe I am just being a trad here, but I am unable to get most things to decompile. When I double clicked my decompiler, IT decompiled!
Now I noticed when I have the decompiler in my inventory I have the Icon up like it is active, but I do not see a "Decompile" option with clicking on different gear.
Any suggestion?
I know it will make me smack my forhead, but I gotta be missing some minor thing.

Thanks!

Figured it out, you click on the item to decompile THEN click the decompiler.
Duh, sweetness!

Yes that can get the newBie and is not overly clear on it's use.

PS: You will always have the ability to go back and edit your own post, unlike the MxO forums.

Well to add to this.

A better and cheaper option is to actually compile the code for the RedPill Special than buy it.  It costs 9 BITS and you get to make 15 guns.  Now if you use the decompile item skill in game it costs $i0, but even if you use the loading zone for 100% certainty it will cost only $i1 (tho it's labeled $i2).

Then you'll be able to decompile those 15 guns for lots of BITS.  Repeat process for an average of 40 BITS for only $i15.  So in no time you'll have a large stockpile of 1-7BITS.

Now the only FRAG that I've seen that I use often that has BIT8 is the Function Subroutine: Operative Ability and this FRAG can be purchased from FRAG vendors for $i1000 now if that's the only other extra cost you need to make all those expensive abilities you'll be fine.

I have not been able to figure out compiling in the loading zone yet, what do you have to do?
I have Compile ability loaded, and a compile tool.

Well it's a requires a few steps.  First you must decompile some item which once done will 'learn' you the recipe for that object.  Then you must compile that using the writing tool this will give you the compiled item.  Upload this 'source' code to your code archive and once there it will show up in your compile item tool.

The only advantage you get from compile such items in game is that they are cheaper and can be done anywhere, but you have a chance to fail.  Where as if you compile in your loading zone it will work all the time but cost more and you have to be in the loading zone.

Not really nerfed, you just have to compile them now Smiley

And I didnt see it listed, but the dark olive barrelhead shirt will yield 8's also.  If I missed that, I'm sorry Smiley

The dark olive barrelhead shirt shirst gives BIT8's huh, is that from any clothing vendor.  Also as I've only found one FRAG (Operative SubRoutine) that needs BIT8 if I run out of those I just purchase that frag for $i1000 which isn't much of a cost really.  But making your own would be easier and if you can get that shirt for same or less more cost effective.

I dont know if it's from a vendor or not, but it for sure gives 8's and 3's.  I'm on proxy or I'd make you a cpl to get the recipe off of, think I found one on the marketplace..

Just a quick list of items (Clothes at lvl 1, as they take only 1$i or a tad more to make and Redpill Special as giving out 1-7s) giving out 3s when decompiling...
No idea of store availability, cause i just crunched em from the compiler list and those i decompiled along the way of stuff i found, not sure whether its an initial recipe or some item i found Tongue

Sort order is top = highest output on 3s based on just 15 decompile attempts, maybe more if one looked promising Smiley, but i crunched it down to percantages.
Guess at higher lvls the output would be anyway 1:1, so someone might look at how many 3s it take to make that code all in all. After hours of crunching (damn 10 sec for decompile to come back, i wasn't really into lookin how many 3s it would take to make each of these.
So when you got some 3s in your pocket make some of these to get 3s back. Easy as that.
